Shownotes

00:00:00: But have you ever talked to a Palestinian who said, I want peace with Israel?

00:00:11: They want freedom.

00:00:13: That's something else!

00:00:14: I agree with them.

00:00:15: they want peace and freedom And security

00:00:18: just

00:00:18: like you.

00:00:20: Can Jews be oppressors?

00:00:22: Sure Absolutely.

00:00:25: Should Jews be oppressors?

00:00:27: Of course not

00:00:29: Because the Jewish people has been oppressed for thousands of years.

00:00:33: Absolutely, that's why we wanted Israel.

00:00:36: To get out of Europe to get out America and Asia where they had pogroms like in Iraq in nineteen forty one.

00:00:45: so We don't want be oppressed And try as much possible not to be oppressors.

00:00:54: Not only are the settlements illegal but entire occupation In words of ICJ is Illegal.

00:01:03: And based on that, Shiloh this place has no legal basis.

00:01:14: It needs to be demolished.

00:01:16: Have you any other jokes?

00:01:22: Alright!

00:01:22: New episode with an old guest... Not that your old but like a veteran guest of Yangonay.

00:01:32: Who are you?

00:01:33: My name is Isreal Medad Born in America, I moved to Israel in nineteen seventy and here in Shiloh in nineteen eighty one.

00:01:45: So it gives me four decades of experience.

00:01:49: Uh...I'm now retired but i still go into Jerusalem to volunteer.

00:01:54: uh..i try to think that a little bit.

00:01:58: an expert on history especially Zionist history political science have two degrees And I continue to write for the Jerusalem Post and other newspapers political columns publicistica, as we say in Hebrew.

00:02:16: We've known each other for twelve years.

00:02:19: I've been interviewing you ever since two thousand fourteen with them back way in twenty eighteen here Palestine and glad have your back!

00:02:31: Thank You for having me on But we happen to be in Judea and Samaria, not Palestine.

00:02:37: According too?

00:02:39: According to me!

00:02:43: What do you base your opinion on?

00:02:47: Is it a Bible or...?

00:02:48: Well...not exactly is that I want to make clear?

00:02:52: Palestine was the Roman Latin name That was applied to this area.

00:03:00: It's always known as to the Jews of Judea And for example, if you go into the nineteen forty seven UN partition plan So there's a section.

00:03:12: they're on the borders and when it says he'd go from here to hear From year-to-year two years.

00:03:16: He said Judea and Samaria It doesn't say Palestine.

00:03:21: Palestine was a mandate that existed for thirty years But we Jews like to call our country by its own name.

00:03:33: I don't deny Arabs the right to call it Palestine, but I called it Judea and Samaria.

00:03:39: What did the Egyptians call this area before?

00:03:43: you know?

00:03:43: The Jews conquered the area like a thousand years ago.

00:03:46: they probably call it Philistine.

00:03:49: see

00:03:50: Right sounds like Palestine.

00:03:51: It does its only way that the Arab language can pronounce because there's no P in Arabic.

00:04:00: so it is very odd quote-unquote.

00:04:04: indigenous, five thousand year old people living in its historic homeland can't pronounce his name.

00:04:14: So how's Chilo doing?

00:04:15: I mean uh...I said like we've been here in two thousand fourteen.

00:04:20: How is the settlement developing your community?

00:04:24: We're still not at five hundred families which would probably be about a hundred and fifty families more than you knew.

00:04:33: but we have another twelve, thirteen communities surrounding us on the hills and valley.

00:04:42: And uh...the population if we include Eili north of us is about twelve thousand Jews in this area with a good view what they call outposts or farms.

00:05:01: So we've expanded increased our population.

00:05:06: I don't know if the Sheila winery existed when would last talk, but it's a world-famous winery with hundreds of thousands of bottles going abroad.

00:05:17: other industry here Restaurants now.

00:05:22: We have three restaurants.

00:05:24: any good.

00:05:25: yes one is excellent because he was on.

00:05:28: I don't know if you have...I guess, in Germany also a MasterChef type of program with people come and cook.

00:05:35: He almost won the programs.

00:05:36: so he has a restaurant here.

00:05:39: Can

00:05:40: anybody go there?

00:05:41: Yes!

00:05:41: Anybody Everybody, anybody.

00:05:45: Germans,

00:05:46: Arabs.

00:05:47: That depends on their identification card.

00:05:50: If they are Israeli-Arabs They can Palestinian Arabs from the Palestinian Authority that have a problem because they can't come in Because of this security requirements.

00:06:03: Are you afraid of them?

00:06:04: I don't know if we call it afraid.

00:06:07: I'm anxious and The orders of the government and the IDF are That only with his special permission for example, they work in construction or something else.

00:06:20: They have to go through even What we call in Hebrew Shabbat the security services Review before being able to come into the community.

00:06:31: This is used to always be but especially after October seventh There's a mindset that We saw hundreds of not thousands of Arabs from Gaza coming into those communities along the Gaza Strip and they complained We gave them work.

00:06:52: They worked in our fields, they worked in the industry... ...they even came into our homes to clean and look what happened.

00:06:59: so there's like a mindset that completely changed.

00:07:03: But your guys' mindset is if their are cheap labor it can come here?

00:07:08: Actually not even cheap labor anymore.

00:07:11: we really don't want..we want to develop Jewish Cheap Labor.

00:07:18: How do you do that ?

00:07:20: You use young kids before they're married.

00:07:24: So child

00:07:25: labor that's illegal.

00:07:26: Well, no there the twenty one twenty two twenty three and That whole security situation since October seventh twenty twenty-three Look a lot of people can say you people out in Judea and Samaria were always Security Conscious because even quote unquote outside of Israel in an Arab-populated area.

00:07:54: But now, many, many Israelis have become sort of... I'm not saying they're changing their political mind but the orientation to a security issue.

00:08:04: Can you trust an Arab?

00:08:07: Do You Have To Be Fearful Of An Arab ?

00:08:12: Do You After Watch Him When He Walks Down Your Corridor That Whole Mindset Has Changed Very Much?

00:08:42: What's the difference to racism?

00:08:46: With this mindset, because He or she is an Arab.

00:08:50: We must be cautious anxious.

00:08:53: But isn't that like the definition of racism?

00:08:56: No, definition of Racism Is because if your color or national origin you cannot to be anything else except a Thief a rapist the murderer whatever you want to say.

00:09:10: Not very intelligent okay.

00:09:13: basically that an Arab has potential danger

00:09:16: and an Arab Who has a Palestinian authority ID is a potential danger.

00:09:24: we have I think close to two million Arabs in Israel.

00:09:30: they work in hospitals They work all over the place.

00:09:33: We have a Supreme Court justice who's an Arab.

00:09:36: so it's not racist Arab It's an arab

00:09:41: racism against Palestinians, that's

00:09:42: not racism.

00:09:44: again its question of to identify his potential on the basis of past experience, being a problem or danger.

00:09:58: Or shall I take special precautions and let him go about business but keep an eye open?

00:10:04: That's not racism!

00:10:06: When your child is running in street you don't say that car is racist if it unfortunately hits them perhaps.

00:10:17: But you also tell them, don't go into the street without looking because there are cars.

00:10:23: That's a danger.

00:10:24: so I hope i've explained myself.

00:10:27: Could a Palestinian Arab or like an Israeli Arab get a house here?

00:10:32: No

00:10:34: Just for Jews

00:10:35: Yes

00:10:37: Then that is not segregation racism.

00:10:40: no Because when we become city perhaps Arabs will be able to come here.

00:10:45: Oh okay denying them residency.

00:10:50: You would welcome them?

00:10:52: I will probably welcome those who want to live here, if they can live in Jerusalem or in Haifa right?

00:11:01: Haifa has a very large Arab minority.

00:11:04: no one says that they cannot live there.

00:11:06: and we have Arab cities like Nazareth where few Jews lived or Arab villages maybe three hundred our villages were not Jews.

00:11:17: That's the way this country developed.

00:11:20: When we had mixed communities in a mandate period, Ramla, Ludd, Yaffo... What happened?

00:11:30: There were riots and Jews were killed.

00:11:34: when it occurred to the Arabs or the Mufti let us now kill Jews.

00:11:47: I understand there's a famous movie now out pro-Palestine called Nineteen Thirty Six, but it doesn't tell the whole story.

00:11:55: So we have historical memory of that period.

00:12:01: Jews were forced out of mixed cities.

00:12:04: Jerusalem.

00:12:05: in nineteen forty eight.

00:12:06: all The Jews had to leave this eastern part of his city basically which became Arab Not because he wanted to, not because we were the racists.

00:12:17: Because they were engaged in ethnic cleansing.

00:12:19: They didn't want us there.

00:12:19: Do

00:12:20: you have Palestinian Arab friends?

00:12:24: Here

00:12:25: I wouldn't say Friends.

00:12:27: Do you know people who

00:12:28: are- I have some acquaintances...I do Know very well someone Who lives on The other hill over There.

00:12:36: It's not part of Shiloh I guess

00:12:37: Not part Of Shilho Not yet.

00:12:41: But He bought the land In his father Father or uncle.

00:12:47: bought the land in nineteen twenty-eight because I visited Monson.

00:12:50: he showed me to deed.

00:12:52: his Uncle was in Chicago and He sent him twenty five dollars, and he brought the land In nineteen

00:13:02: twenty eight And

00:13:03: After after Oslo.

00:13:05: Yeah?

00:13:06: He was kidnapped twice by the Palestinian Authority beaten and tortured Because he had two friendly relationships with Jews, so now we don't get to speak very often if at all.

00:13:21: It works on both sides of the divide as we say.

00:13:26: Would you guys love to Get The Hill?

00:13:29: To Get The Hell?

00:13:30: He

00:13:30: lives there.

00:13:31: let him live There.

00:13:31: We're not interested in his hill.

00:13:33: No

00:13:34: no Why Not?

00:13:35: Because it's His.

00:13:38: he lived there for a hundred years.

00:13:39: His family has lived there For A Hundred Years.

00:13:44: He has some sheep and he does some work.

00:13:47: He's quiet, doesn't attack us or do anything wrong.

00:13:51: Maybe is afraid of you guys?

00:13:53: I don't think so because we used to come in here all the time.

00:13:57: That's not a question...I'm more afraid of Mr Mahmoud Abbas Or someone else who has done him bad.

00:14:07: We haven't done any bad

00:14:10: Spent days already.

00:14:13: Talk to some Palestinians in this area.

00:14:17: They are afraid of you guys, the settlers.

00:14:23: There's been a lot violence.

00:14:25: I mean... You can't deny that The Settler Violence has quadrupled for last four years In the West Bank?

00:14:32: I agree there is problem but i'm not familiar with all figures.

00:14:39: But what isn't reported?

00:14:41: it?

00:14:42: almost every day Some act of violence by Arabs against Jews happens.

00:14:48: It could be stone-throwing, it could be an occasion firebombing... ...it could be attacks on some other communities that are undefended what I call the farms of the youngsters.

00:15:03: and i would guess

00:15:07: there's also unprovoked attacks by Jewish settlers?

00:15:13: Unfortunately, about three hundred or so youngsters who believe that now is the time to push the Arabs out.

00:15:24: Why don't you guys educate your youngsters not do this?

00:15:27: We've tried we've tried.

00:15:30: You guys did a bad job.

00:15:33: I Don't know if we could have done even a good job.

00:15:38: It's a sociological political problem.

00:15:42: after the withdrawal from Gaza Strip in two thousand and five, The younger generation who at that time with teenagers or even younger said That the council of Jewish communities was weak.

00:15:59: It surrendered it gave up And you have no moral authority to tell us how to run our political campaigns?

00:16:14: parents lost authority, educators lost authority.

00:16:19: And the police under various ministers not only the current minister have not been successful in catching them or improving their innocence Or they're guilt In a fashion which the court will accept it.

00:16:38: and It's very complicated situation Which makes me personally Very unhappy because I'm looking at it also as a parent.

00:16:48: If my child ran away from home, I tried to get him back.

00:16:52: if he was engaged in violent activity destroying property hitting people i would try To punish him or bring them Back and i think some of the parents are not Authoritative enough for Not Responsible Enough.

00:17:11: Towards The Younger Generation i mean

00:17:13: the israeli army The Israeli military, the IDF is responsible for the safety in Judea and Samaria as you call it.

00:17:23: Shouldn't the ID F go between the Palestinians and those young violent settlers?

00:17:31: And protect...

00:17:33: Absolutely!

00:17:35: But that's not happening either.

00:17:36: It's getting worse.

00:17:37: I've seen video reports where the IDFS stands by.

00:17:47: I know that the army has tried to punish soldiers who have stood on a side.

00:17:53: I know also That the overwhelming Focus of The Army is an Arab terror and so if you attack over here when they're looking there Over Here it takes some time to get over could take ten minutes.

00:18:10: It can Take A half An hour by that Time.

00:18:14: It's usually over because I've seen the films.

00:18:16: They get twenty, fifty or a hundred kids running down a street and then they're gone.

00:18:23: That takes three minutes And by the time of report comes in.

00:18:29: so we can't get into all details.

00:18:32: But it is very troubling situation Because We were able to take out entire Hezbollah leadership In the Dakhia Iranian leadership in their homes, apartments or the girlfriend's apartment.

00:18:51: We can't find who is organizing and doing something here.

00:18:55: it's disappointing at least.

00:18:58: It's also horrible to see young settlers putting fields on fire you know?

00:19:06: The crops on fire by farmers

00:19:08: I agree with.

00:19:10: but i ask you and whoever listening to us There are instances, especially.

00:19:17: I remember one specific case at Taiba which is near Ofra to the south of us in which it was claimed that Jews set fire to the fields.

00:19:28: And we found out later that they Arabs had set fire their own fields.

00:19:33: just a burn away got out of hand and said oh let's blame the Jews.

00:19:38: I've seen video where young settlers.

00:19:44: You can almost see it every

00:19:45: week.

00:19:45: I could show.

00:19:46: if you want me to, I'll share new videos of Arabs setting fire to fields in Jerusalem.

00:19:51: even so It's back and forth.

00:19:56: Look this conflict is not from yesterday or the day before yesterday.

00:20:01: The Conflict Violence Either started in nineteen twenty in a political sense Or even a little bit earlier.

00:20:12: Okay It's a vicious cycle.

00:20:15: It continues to go on.

00:20:16: how do you end it

00:20:18: my idea?

00:20:20: Mr.. Muhammad mrs.

00:20:22: Fatima We're here to stay.

00:20:25: You'll get a better life if you put down your guns and either become part of Israel or an autonomy Or condominium part of Jordan.

00:20:39: let's work out the details of a diplomatic arrangement.

00:20:43: They won

00:20:43: the Palestinian state?

00:20:44: They're not going to get us Palestinian State, they lost that opportunity.

00:20:50: You guys have your own state

00:20:51: We have our own state and we agreed on an Arab state both in nineteen forty seven In nineteen sixty-seven even except for Jerusalem And Golan Heights which was then ruled by Syria.

00:21:10: Everything else is up for grabs.

00:21:12: No, the famous Khartoum Conference of September November September nineteen sixty-seven no peace.

00:21:21: No negotiations.

00:21:22: No recognition of Israel.

00:21:25: Well the Arab League in two thousand to they recognized Israel.

00:21:29: They did.

00:21:30: I just talked to Ami Aya on ex head of Shembet.

00:21:33: we talk about it at length.

00:21:35: I'm me are you alone?

00:21:36: Doesn't?

00:21:37: nobody's talking about He?

00:21:39: sometimes rarely peacenicks see into things that aren't there.

00:21:46: That's my view?

00:21:48: I've seen it with Shimon Peres during Oslo, I have seen it Yossi Bailin in the Madrid conference where i was at Madrid for a week.

00:21:58: so...I've seen up close and spoken to these people!

00:22:02: I didn't tell our audience but worked on The Kinesis for twelve years.

00:22:05: So..I spoke to many of them personally That they are fooling themselves and I don't want them to fool anybody else.

00:22:16: Okay, so no Palestinian state but you would be fine with Palestinian Arabs being part of.

00:22:23: You know Israel.

00:22:25: Either is real or some sort of an arrangement?

00:22:28: I don' wanna change their religion.

00:22:29: They're not gonna change Their customs there culture the language There Islam whatever.

00:22:37: those

00:22:37: same rights

00:22:38: put Basically the same right.

00:22:40: basically I don't know if they're gonna be able to vote for the Knesset, maybe five years or past.

00:22:51: If people

00:22:52: live in the same state... ...if we were both of us would be citizens of the same State.. ..I'd want the same rights as you.

00:23:03: Right!

00:23:03: And i woull give them to you.

00:23:06: I'll say though that for seventy-years you've been trying to kill me.

00:23:10: let's not jump into things.

00:23:13: Fine, but we never started anything.

00:23:17: We did not go out first to kill or injure To rape to maim The firebomb.

00:23:25: we did not start the conflict.

00:23:28: The conflict you could say started because Jews came back to their homeland.

00:23:33: Well that's a basic argument.

00:23:35: and unfortunately today one more point A lot of the world Not only can't even see that historical development of the past hundred fifty years, they completely define it as colonialism.

00:23:51: As genocide?

00:23:52: As racism.

00:23:54: everything like keywords to get you all excited when has nothing to do with reality.

00:24:00: Starvation in Gaza famine in Gaza.

00:24:04: It doesn't exist.

00:24:07: Well we let this effect speak for itself.

00:24:11: okay but even Palestinians consider this their homeland as well.

00:24:15: They've been here for thousands of years.

00:24:18: I don't disagree.

00:24:20: So what?

00:24:21: What I disagree is that it isn't more Ancient than the Jews.

00:24:29: Arabs came here in the seventh century has occupiers, has colonialists As conquerors from Saudi Arabia.

00:24:40: In sixteen fifty-eight They were knocking on the doors of Vienna.

00:24:47: Okay, they came into South France.

00:24:51: okay when the Moors conquered Spain and you're

00:24:54: talking about Muslims.

00:24:55: Muslims are sick to the same people.

00:24:58: There is there Christian Palestinians that's if

00:25:01: yes but their Arabs?

00:25:03: They also are Right.

00:25:06: so you could say maybe even the Christian Arab Palestinians or actually Jews who lived here In the first century, and instead of being Jews they moved over to Christianity.

00:25:19: It's very possible but that is their problem not mine.

00:25:24: But you would like the Palestinians to live in Israel.

00:25:28: You know one state right?

00:25:30: Why are there no same rights?

00:25:32: I mean after a peace deal After the conflict And then...

00:25:37: After certain.

00:25:39: I don't what proper word is Accommodation.

00:25:43: Getting used to the situation is not going be overnight.

00:25:46: That's

00:25:46: what that's how it gonna work?

00:25:50: I don't know if after

00:25:51: World War two If i'm, not mistaken there was something called in english.

00:25:56: anyway The denazification program

00:25:59: right didn't last long didn't work.

00:26:02: Okay this time make It Work and Make It Work Longer.

00:26:05: People who were part of the PLO or the Hamas Or the Islamic jihad Stand Online.

00:26:13: We'll see how you operate.

00:26:16: It might take a year, two years three years I don't know.

00:26:20: You're not getting citizenship

00:26:22: And but are going to punish the millions of other Palestinians?

00:26:26: No Those people who wanted to make peace with us and were hunted down by the PLO or Palestinian Authority.

00:26:35: They can become citizens immediately.

00:26:37: Same rights Voting and responsibilities.

00:26:42: I don't know if they can go into the army immediately, but there's some sort of national service.

00:26:47: So

00:26:47: that is not a same right?

00:26:50: Nowhere in the world do you get this same rights without these responsibilities?

00:26:58: Okay...I know Europe now has given all the rights to people who are even illegal immigrants and Mr Trump in America as having problems with people coming here for births demanding citizenship.

00:27:11: So it's a problem.

00:27:12: That

00:27:13: is the American Constitution and your Americans.

00:27:16: if you're born on the American soil, you an America.

00:27:19: that's correct.

00:27:20: however When the constitution was made there were very little people in United States And a lot more people were still coming.

00:27:29: so there was no problem.

00:27:30: they didn't think that five hundred thousand Syrian immigrants would come in over half a year or Hundred Thousand South Americans or Central American, some of them belong to gangs.

00:27:48: Drug cartels gang are coming into the country once your security is being threatened.

00:27:54: Yes!

00:27:55: You take certain steps that you wouldn't taken in an era of peace Or confidence.

00:28:01: it doesn't work that way.

00:28:02: That's life.

00:28:04: So at one point The conflict comes to an end.

00:28:08: We have a peace deal.

00:28:09: There's one state.

00:28:11: Palestinians Become citizens.

00:28:14: They become Arab Israelis

00:28:17: after a few years, they get the same rights.

00:28:19: so there's a few more years of apartheid right?

00:28:23: It's not apartheids.

00:28:24: Well

00:28:24: if it is different different laws for people

00:28:28: No that's not Apartheid.

00:28:30: no in Germany I don't know all The Laws but i presume a person who's living here ten Years But Is Not A Citizen Maybe Has Different Rights Because he's not a full citizen.

00:28:44: But once you become a citizen,

00:28:46: right?

00:28:48: That's right.

00:28:49: Once you're a citizen everything changes.

00:28:52: what I'm saying is that the period between becoming a citizen and still remaining someone who's Under supervision under observation Whatever you want to call it that period of Transfer from war to peace and agreements, that's a short period of time relatively speaking.

00:29:17: Why do you expect to just like put yourself in the shoes of an Palestinian?

00:29:20: Like why would they accept after being from their point-of view occupied for decades not getting their own state... ...why would you expect them to accept?

00:29:36: all right we're also gonna get not going to get the same rights as Jews For a few more years.

00:29:43: Yeah, right?

00:29:44: Why would they?

00:29:44: why wouldn't it go for that?

00:29:45: because no

00:29:46: state No rights

00:29:47: Because they said we were silly.

00:29:50: We weren't smart.

00:29:51: We never accepted any of the plans of nineteen thirty seven forty seven sixty-seven.

00:29:59: The begging autonomy plan.

00:30:02: Yes, I've been Oslo whatever you want to call it.

00:30:05: We Never accepted it.

00:30:06: He was he wasn't smart enough.

00:30:10: So we have to wait a little longer.

00:30:12: We want to show them, we wanna be good neighbors, good citizens... ...we want to be productive contributing elements of the society of estate that gives us health hygiene industry science etc.

00:30:26: Who decides who wants to go to Saudi Arabia and get your hand cut off for thief?

00:30:31: Who decides if they are good citizens?

00:30:34: The law

00:30:36: To the Jews!

00:30:38: The Law Of The State.

00:30:39: We have Jews, we have Christians and we have Muslims who are citizens of Israel.

00:30:45: Right?

00:30:46: We have Arab parties in the parliament...in the Knesset.

00:30:50: It's not only a Jewish question.

00:30:53: it is not just a Jewish matter but an issue with Israel The one state historic homeland for the Jewish people.

00:31:01: among twenty three Arab states Among forty Muslim States Among our two hundred states of the world, one state wants to be where the Jews can develop their religion.

00:31:14: Their culture that customs who they are there communities this social elements.

00:31:21: That is a right?

00:31:23: A natural right that every human being Who belongs to a national group should be able to have.

00:31:31: if you ever thought about what it would Be like to be a Palestinian Arab living in these lands.

00:31:40: What would you do if were a young Palestinian, seeing other people taking your land because of their religious convictions?

00:31:59: I've tried talking to several of them and wouldn't say they're sixteen or eighteen but i understand that in their youthful enthusiasm, they would like to become a freedom fighter.

00:32:15: What I call a terrorist?

00:32:21: Would

00:32:21: you be a Freedom Fighter?

00:32:22: Would fight for freedom

00:32:25: if

00:32:25: other people take your land?

00:32:28: It depends If i couldn't get my land back through diplomacy... Excuse me for saying this Stupid enough To refuse every single diplomatic peaceful offer and say it all belongs to me not only or belongs to Me.

00:32:48: I don't recognize you And your right even to be in Tel Aviv.

00:32:54: Which Jews purchased?

00:32:55: the nineteen oh nine?

00:32:57: there was nothing.

00:32:58: There's no there's No, Palestinian living their news.

00:33:01: It was sand dunes.

00:33:03: You still don't have a right to be there?

00:33:05: I would hope that I will have enough education.

00:33:08: I'm common sense to say, wait a second.

00:33:12: Maybe i am in the wrong?

00:33:13: maybe my life could be so much better...I can even continue to live in my village just like my ancestors did it's just without the palestinian flag!

00:33:25: maybe what is

00:33:26: better?!

00:33:27: The Palestinian Flag.

00:33:29: or My Life Today and the life of my children and grandchildren afterwards.

00:33:34: but put yourself into shoes.

00:33:35: are you stuck in the past Or do you want to look at the future?

00:33:49: To look into the future, it would be nice if we could have hope.

00:33:57: And there are a lot of young Palestinians I know who don't see... they're not hopeful that there's going to be peace.

00:34:11: Israel, the Israeli Jews want to make peace.

00:34:15: So there's no hope and because of their... There is no hope.

00:34:20: they have nothing to lose And they turn into violence Like if you were a person do understand this?

00:34:28: I understand how wrongly are.

00:34:31: Hope has always been there.

00:34:35: Arab rejection Of any sort of compromise Any sort of arrangement for ninety years or more has been the main problem.

00:34:49: Do you want us to still be able to live here, or not?

00:34:52: We gave up Judea and Samaria in nineteen forty

00:34:56: seven.".

00:34:56: But if-if...

00:34:57: You were a young Palestinian And YOU understand The world that Jewish settlers don't WANT YOU TO BE HERE.

00:35:07: What would you do?

00:35:10: Would you be a freedom fighter?

00:35:12: Again, you're giving me a set of circumstances which I don't agree are the correct circumstances.

00:35:39: Written in English the books written an Arabic that's been translated.

00:35:43: I said they say well, is this true?

00:35:46: Is that true?

00:35:46: what are my teachers?

00:35:47: tell me?

00:35:48: if my teaches or their teachers Tell them only one version of history.

00:35:52: There was a initiative here about ten years ago to put out a History book One-page Arab Version.

00:36:05: The next page drew Jewish version or Zionist version whatever you want to call it and then have classes, argue which was correct.

00:36:15: What were the possibilities?

00:36:17: It's done in a Jewish school still.

00:36:19: and Israel.

00:36:20: we get to story.

00:36:21: how do I know?

00:36:23: because we have peace now.

00:36:25: We had this organization with bit Salem right on the outside.

00:36:30: you have any piece organization Any organization says let's make peace with the Jews.

00:36:37: not one Not one organization.

00:36:40: You have a few individuals, right?

00:36:43: not One here in Israel.

00:36:45: you probably know we Have a dozen or more and they have demonstrations And they have activities and They get money from the EU and Germany included and they go Get prizes From Germany and they get all sorts of things almost Oz and Everybody else.

00:37:02: that goes Omar Batov everybody Goes out there.

00:37:04: I had

00:37:04: to head of Bethlehem on my show.

00:37:07: That's your problem not mine.

00:37:09: Anyway, it was

00:37:09: a great interview.

00:37:10: you should watch it.

00:37:11: It's an English.

00:37:12: fine

00:37:13: we talked about the genocide in Gaza.

00:37:15: that said I say is your problem Not mine

00:37:18: and but Bats Lambs opinion?

00:37:20: But you never have you ever met?

00:37:23: Have you ever talk?

00:37:23: you excuse me?

00:37:25: Have You ever talked to a Palestinian who said I want peace with Israel?

00:37:29: yes

00:37:32: They won freedom

00:37:34: as something else.

00:37:35: i agree With them.

00:37:36: they one piece and freedom and security.

00:37:38: Fine, just like you

00:37:40: fine.

00:37:40: did they say I'm willing to recognize the historic Jewish identity?

00:37:46: And connection with the land of Israel?

00:37:49: do i reject what it says in the Quran that Jews are not going to say exactly What anybody can open up?

00:37:57: a Koran read at them.

00:37:58: Not very good people.

00:37:59: Okay am I Going To Say Well Why Did The Mufti Go To Berlin In nineteen forty One Until Nineteen Forty Five?

00:38:08: What was he doing?

00:38:09: radio broadcasting?

00:38:10: He identified with the Nazis.

00:38:13: Is that a good thing to do?

00:38:16: or How come there's so many Arab dictatorships Gaddafi, Sadat, Sisi?

00:38:26: There is so much war in the Middle East and the Arab-Middle East.

00:38:33: Why what's the problem?

00:38:35: well

00:38:36: it maybe solve that problem not my problem.

00:38:38: Well, in the West we say they are our dictators.

00:38:41: That's why they're there because we get resources.

00:38:47: But that is not my problem or it shouldn't be.

00:38:50: let me put this way It should influence whether or not Ahmed Muhammad is going to throw a stone at my car even though he knows there were children in his car.

00:39:04: but your worldview is based on the Torah.

00:39:10: My worldview is based on experience.

00:39:16: I have a fundamental understanding that Jews have lived here for three thousand or more years, as you know probably because i maybe said this in the past.

00:39:28: You go down The Hill to Tel Shiloh.

00:39:32: We Have Archaeology...you can Google it.

00:39:35: Tel Shilo Talked

00:39:36: about It In Twenty Fourteen

00:39:38: And..You Can See Pottery Jewelry elements of buildings that existed twenty-five hundred or more years ago.

00:39:52: So the Bible isn't only a book of religion history, it's also a Book Of History.

00:40:01: Can a good Jew have freedom and safety based on the lack of freedom about us?

00:40:08: Sure!

00:40:12: You remind me if something not now says Peter Bynert.

00:40:16: We've heard the name Peter Beinert, right?

00:40:19: Jews are not free until the Palestinians are free.

00:40:23: Why?

00:40:24: Because they refused and rejected for a hundred years.

00:40:28: I have to suffer because of their non-thinking Their illogic approach to politics.

00:40:38: Can Jews be oppressors?

00:40:40: Sure

00:40:42: Absolutely.

00:40:42: Should Jews be oppressive?

00:40:44: Of course not.

00:40:47: the Jewish people have been oppressed for thousands of years?

00:40:51: Absolutely, that's why we wanted Israel.

00:40:54: To get out of Europe to get out America and Asia where they had pogroms like in Iraq in nineteen forty one.

00:41:02: so uh... We don't want to be oppressed And try as much possible not to be oppressors.

00:41:11: There is no other political State, political creation like Israel that has tried for seventy more and more years to make peace with its neighbors.

00:41:30: To give back territory.

00:41:42: We act, something you can touch.

00:41:52: Arabs have never given us something that's real.

00:41:55: Are You going to give back Gaza?

00:41:56: Are you gonna give back the south Lebanon?

00:41:59: are you're gonna get and give back The Golan Heights these areas That the Israeli army is occupying right now?

00:42:05: the short answer Ask Hamas in Gaza.

00:42:08: ask Hezbollah

00:42:10: in

00:42:11: Lebanon.

00:42:13: I

00:42:13: asked you as an Israeli.

00:42:14: That's my answer.

00:42:16: I'm not going to give back something he's gonna take from me and use as a terror base.

00:42:21: If He disarms Hamas, Qizbal

00:42:24: etc.,

00:42:25: if Iran gets out of its Mahdi messianism of Shiite Islam right?

00:42:32: And makes peace all the ships could go through Hormuz including Israeli ships.

00:42:39: would that be nice?

00:42:40: yeah okay i agree with you.

00:42:42: i'm in favor freedom and safety

00:42:45: for all including me.

00:42:49: Who are you voting for in the next election?

00:42:52: I don't know yet, but probably the Likud.

00:42:55: That's Bibi Netanyahu's party.

00:42:57: You're

00:42:59: a fan of Bibi... I

00:43:00: think it is called Finesse The ability to maneuver as Mr.

00:43:14: Netanyah does on the world stage.

00:43:17: Is he the best leader in the world?

00:43:19: No.

00:43:21: Has He The Best Personality In The World?

00:43:23: No, but neither did Merkel needed that.

00:43:27: Starmer and Trump is another problem.

00:43:31: But you can't always get one hundred percent.

00:43:36: Even if You Marry Someone You Never Get a Hundred Percent Of What Do You Want.

00:43:42: do not Care That He's A Corrupt Person

00:43:44: He Isn'T.

00:43:46: Let'S Put It This Way.

00:43:47: He's not

00:43:47: corrupt.

00:43:49: And the court case just this last week, The judges told the prosecution drop the embezzlement... ...the bribery charge.

00:44:02: Netanyahu hasn't given an interview to an Israel journalist in four years.

00:44:07: I learned this week and we talked to the head of the journalism union.

00:44:13: Isn't that weird?

00:44:14: He mostly talks to American TV.

00:44:17: now

00:44:20: He just gave an interview on Channel Four team.

00:44:23: I think Wednesday night.

00:44:26: that's his propaganda.

00:44:27: That is home base,

00:44:28: and I don't call this journalism sorry.

00:44:30: Then to be fair then fine.

00:44:33: but to be Fair a lot of us don't called the other journalists Journalists.

00:44:38: But especially now we have our study Just came out in The Washington Post.

00:44:42: look for it.

00:44:44: And the whole issue Of the the Gazan journalist quote unquote.

00:44:51: So yeah, it's a tough world to live in as a journalist and has the politician but fine I've seen him give interviews from press releases not in-depth or not press releases at press conferences he had.

00:45:08: But uh i agree with you He is not an easy man to get along With.

00:45:13: Has Benghviya and Smaa... have Benghriya and Smodlich done A good job?

00:45:23: To be honest They did a better job than I thought they would do.

00:45:27: Why?

00:45:28: Because they were inexperienced.

00:45:30: government look, i said before...I worked in the Knesset for twelve years..i know a little bit!

00:45:36: I was even an employee of a ministry at once For one and half year.

00:45:42: Politics is not only politics And Government Is Not Only Government.

00:45:46: There's so much involved.

00:45:48: People Stay In Place The Clerks the officials stay in place for twenty thirty years.

00:45:54: The minister comes along, I don't know if you saw a yes-minister from England or is translated into German very funny Abba Eben's nephew was the writer by the way.

00:46:05: so it gets lot of interaction that you fight all time especially with Smutrich and the Treasury Department.

00:46:18: It's A Fight all the time, with every single minister and every single bureaucracy.

00:46:23: And if you don't have experience or age of reputation they can run your over.

00:46:31: Would you like them to stay in government after election?

00:46:35: There's gonna be some kind of coalition right.

00:46:38: It is their democratic rights If they get elected.

00:46:41: I mean

00:46:42: i dont practice apartheid against right wing politicians

00:46:47: Like especially I always get worried when they see reports of Ben Vier, you know and inciting some kind of You know like there's incitement at the dome of The Rock.

00:47:02: That's not an excitement.

00:47:03: It's a no

00:47:04: that's equal rights.

00:47:06: even ask me all the time about equal rights.

00:47:08: Why don't I get equal rights?

00:47:11: At the Temple Mount.

00:47:13: I mean Everybody knows

00:47:15: the

00:47:15: Temple Mount

00:47:16: over

00:47:17: in Iraq was built on The Temple Mount.

00:47:20: But there's a treaty that...

00:47:21: There is no treaty, it has status quo.

00:47:23: Exactly!

00:47:25: It's like two friends going after same girl and one says you know what?

00:47:32: You can have her And then he finds out He cannot Have Her.

00:47:37: If you don't keep to this status quo if you keep building mosques underground If you keep on attacking Jews at the western wall outside, when you get very angry throwing stones with them.

00:47:50: Okay?

00:47:51: That's not to status quo!

00:47:53: Status quo should be like in Hebron The cave of the patriarch is divided between Jews and Arabs.

00:48:02: okay And on ten days a year Muslims Get the entire building On Ten Days A Year Jews Get the Entire Building.

00:48:11: On the Rest It's Divided.

00:48:13: You can't do that with the Temple Mount.

00:48:16: Different times, different places Jews have to pray up until recently very recently in secret.

00:48:27: That's not democracy...that's not culture..That's not progress.... That's oppression of Jews.

00:48:34: I'm just worried this could lead some kind of new intifada or something because it is a holy place for Muslims?

00:48:39: I am

00:48:40: sure It Can but why does it say they are going hit me so i don't Look at them.

00:48:46: I walk down the street, I don't look at that.

00:48:48: why if i look at him?

00:48:51: I Don't know If you've been in New York and some certain neighborhoods if You looked like this it's someone he's gonna hit you.

00:48:55: but I didn't do anything to you.

00:48:57: I Didn't say you looked at me.

00:49:00: We Know how people act.

00:49:01: I don' want That happening.

00:49:03: Finally Exactly two years ago The ICJ International Court of Justice Published an advisory opinion because the United Nations parliament asked them to rule on, you know the occupation of Palestine and not only are these settlements illegal.

00:49:26: The entire occupation in words of the ICJ is illegal And based on that Shiloh this place has no legal basis.

00:49:44: It needs to be demolished.

00:49:46: Have any other jokes?

00:49:51: I'm just quoting the highest court in the world.

00:49:54: And

00:49:55: Shiloh needs to go

00:49:56: and i think that's one of the lowest courts In The World.

00:50:00: you cannot take away from the Jews Their natural right their historic Right, and they're international legal rights which was set by the San Remo Treaty Conference in nineteen twenty and the League of Nations in nineteen twenty-two to reconstitute The Jewish homeland In their historic land.

00:50:28: If afterwards everybody said, oh let's go hate the Jews That doesn't change that opinion for me.

00:50:34: Should Jews follow the law?

00:50:37: Depends what a lawyer is if it was made by someone who fooled around with his secretaries Like whatever that guy's name was, now he is off the case.

00:50:47: International law was made by all the nations?

00:50:51: No international law Is made by international law professors.

00:50:56: Most of them are either Marxist progressives or liberals who do not accept it to Jews our nation.

00:51:04: Once you start off from that basis Of course what we're doing here is illegal.

00:51:08: I'm

00:51:08: sure there were a lot of Jewish scholars Who participated in international law who made international

00:51:14: war.

00:51:14: Can I let you in on a secret?

00:51:16: Please do!

00:51:16: Jews can be their worst enemies, Their own worst enemies.

00:51:23: Back to the fate of Chilo.

00:51:26: it basically means there cant'be any new houses no new infrastructure and this place as nice at its looks needs to be demolished.

00:51:37: Where are your gonna go?

00:51:39: Where're going?

00:51:40: move to Israel.

00:51:41: A, I'm not moving anywhere and i think that might have said this to you on our previous programs.

00:51:46: Come back in a few years... ...and I'll still be here hopefully until the age of one hundred twenty.

00:51:53: That's

00:51:55: as we say in Jewish.

00:51:56: Hopefully were gonna meet again but there is like for you no way are going.

00:52:01: leave this place?

00:52:02: No!
